Website Terms of Use

Terms covering the use of the Medical Waste Disposal website, medical waste service enquiries, independent supplier introductions and the Medical Waste Reference Finder.

These Website Terms of Use apply to medicalwastedisposal.co.uk, including its service information, enquiry forms, resources, live chat and Medical Waste Reference Finder.

Please read these terms when using the website or submitting an enquiry.

1. The website and our role

About Medical Waste Disposal

Medical Waste Disposal provides website information and an enquiry service relating to medical and healthcare waste collection and disposal.

Our contact address is Suite 114b Business First, Davyfield Road, Blackburn, Lancashire BB1 2QY.

You can contact us at info@medicalwastedisposal.co.uk or telephone 0333 533 0162.

Our contact hours are Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.

What the website provides

The website provides information about healthcare waste streams, collection planning and services that may be relevant to GP surgeries, dental practices, clinics and other healthcare settings.

Subjects include clinical waste disposal, sharps waste collection, pharmaceutical waste disposal, infectious waste, offensive waste and other specialist medical waste enquiries.

Visitors can submit service enquiries through the website or contact us using the published details.

Our role in supplier introductions

Medical Waste Disposal operates as an information and enquiry service. Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, we do not carry out waste collection, transportation, treatment or disposal ourselves through this website.

We may review an enquiry and, where appropriate, introduce it to a suitable independent supplier for consideration.

Submitting an enquiry does not itself establish a waste collection booking or a contract for waste services.

2. Website information

General information

Website pages provide general information to help visitors understand medical waste services, common waste streams, collection arrangements and relevant official guidance.

Information published on the website is not an individual assessment of your waste, premises or statutory responsibilities. Waste classification, packaging, handling, storage, transport and treatment arrangements must be determined according to the actual waste and circumstances involved.

We aim to keep the information useful and clear, but guidance, legislation and operational requirements can change. We do not guarantee that every page is complete, current or suitable for every healthcare setting.

Website availability

We may change, update, temporarily suspend or withdraw parts of the website, including information pages, enquiry forms and tools.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the website, telephone contact, email services, live chat or enquiry facilities.

3. Enquiries and independent suppliers

How an enquiry is considered

When you submit an enquiry, we may review the information provided and decide whether it is appropriate to share relevant details with a suitable independent supplier.

We do not automatically send every enquiry to suppliers. An enquiry may require further information before a supplier can consider the work.

No charge for submitting an enquiry

There is no charge to customers for submitting an enquiry through this website or for an introduction to a supplier.

Suppliers or other third-party businesses may pay us commission, referral income, marketing fees or other commercial income connected with introductions or services. No website introduction fee is charged to the customer as a result of that arrangement.

Supplier quotations and contracts

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, quotations, estimates, appointments, collection bookings and service contracts are between the customer and the appointed supplier.

The supplier determines its own quotations, charges, collection arrangements, service availability, conditions, cancellation terms and any additional work required.

A supplier may need to examine the waste description, quantities, containers, collection location, access arrangements and relevant documentation before confirming a service or price.

If the scope changes or the information provided proves incomplete or inaccurate, a supplier may revise its quotation or decline the work.

No guaranteed introduction or collection

We do not guarantee that a supplier will be available, accept an enquiry, provide a quotation or complete work within a particular period.

Any introduction is made using the information available when the enquiry is reviewed. It does not establish that a supplier is the cheapest or the only suitable option.

Customers decide whether to instruct a supplier and should consider the supplier’s credentials, quotation and contractual terms before doing so.

4. Supplier responsibilities and waste requirements

Independent supplier obligations

Independent suppliers are responsible for the services they agree to provide, including their own staff, equipment, vehicles, insurance, operational arrangements and work quality.

Where applicable, suppliers are also responsible for complying with the legal and regulatory requirements that apply to their activities, including relevant authorisations, permits, risk assessments and waste documentation.

Waste classification and documentation

Medical waste can include different regulated waste streams. For example, sharps, infectious waste, pharmaceutical waste and cytotoxic or cytostatic waste may require different classification, segregation, packaging and treatment arrangements.

Waste producers and other waste holders retain their applicable legal responsibilities. Using an independent supplier or intermediary does not automatically remove those responsibilities.

Before transferring waste, the relevant waste holder must meet applicable duty of care requirements, including accurate waste descriptions and checks that the receiving person is appropriately authorised.

Depending on the waste and jurisdiction, waste transfer documentation or hazardous waste consignment documentation may be required.

You can read further general information on our Medical Waste Documentation and Healthcare Waste Classification Guidance pages.

5. Your responsibilities when submitting an enquiry

Providing accurate information

You are responsible for giving accurate and current information about the services you are requesting.

Relevant details may include:

  • The healthcare setting and collection postcode.
  • The type of waste and any known classification.
  • Estimated quantities and frequency of collection.
  • Existing containers and storage arrangements.
  • Known hazards or special handling requirements.
  • Access restrictions and relevant collection requirements.
  • Any relevant documentation already available.

Where a supplier is introduced, it may request further information before assessing or accepting the work.

Information you must not submit

You must not knowingly provide false or misleading information, unlawful material, abusive content or information you are not authorised to share.

Do not include identifiable patient information, confidential medical records or other unnecessary personal health information in general website enquiries.

You must not interfere with the website, misuse its enquiry facilities or attempt unauthorised access to any system or information.

6. Medical Waste Reference Finder

Purpose of the tool

The Medical Waste Reference Finder is a browser-based reference lookup tool covering selected official government and public-body sources.

It allows users to search references by keyword, topic and jurisdiction, create a shortlist, export results as a CSV file and print selected information.

What the results mean

The tool presents reference information to support further reading. A search result or shortlist does not determine whether waste is hazardous, identify the correct waste code, select a container, specify a treatment route or confirm regulatory compliance.

The official source material and its applicable jurisdiction should be checked when using a reference for operational decisions.

Tool data and exports

Searches and shortlists remain within your browser tab. The tool does not create an account or store your shortlist on our server.

You are responsible for any CSV file you export or printed copy you produce, including how you subsequently store or share it.

7. Personal information

Information submitted through enquiry forms, email or live chat may be used to respond to requests and, where appropriate, to consider a supplier introduction.

Further details about the collection, handling and sharing of personal information are provided in our Privacy Policy.

Information about necessary and optional website cookies is provided in our Cookie Policy.

8. Responsibility and liability

Independent supplier services

Third-party suppliers are independent businesses and are not employees of Medical Waste Disposal.

Once you have entered into a contract with a supplier, questions or disputes concerning that supplier’s quotation, charges, collection, transport, disposal, documentation, attendance, work quality or aftercare should be raised with that supplier.

Subject to applicable law, Medical Waste Disposal is not responsible for the independent supplier’s acts, omissions, delays, pricing, contractual performance or work carried out under a contract between the customer and supplier.

Limits that apply to liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Subject to those protections and other applicable legal rights, our responsibility relates to operating this website and considering or making introductions where appropriate. We do not assume responsibility for performing the independent supplier’s contract.

9. Intellectual property and website use

Website text, design, branding, graphics and other original content belong to their respective rights holders or are used with permission.

You may view and print website pages for your own lawful information and internal business use.

You must not reproduce, sell, republish or commercially exploit substantial parts of the website’s original content without the relevant rights holder’s permission.

Official public-body information linked from this website remains subject to the terms and licensing arrangements of its original publisher.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the website, its features or relevant legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page and will apply to subsequent website use.

Changes to website terms do not automatically replace the terms of a separate contract already entered into with an independent supplier.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes concerning these website terms are subject to the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable law provides mandatory rights to bring proceedings elsewhere.
