Find official medical waste guidance
The Medical Waste Reference Finder brings together 23 reference records linking to government and public-body publications. It provides a searchable starting point for researching healthcare waste classification, segregation, storage, collection and disposal requirements.
Use the medical waste reference lookup to find relevant publications, compare guidance sources and build a shortlist for your practice or organisation. Each record identifies its source, helping you locate the original publication and check the information relevant to your work.
How to use the reference finder
- Choose a topic. Filter the reference records by the area of healthcare waste management you want to research.
- Select a jurisdiction. Narrow the results to guidance relevant to your location or area of interest.
- Search by keyword. Enter a waste type, subject or term to find matching records.
- Review the references. Open the linked official publications to read the source material and check its scope.
- Build your shortlist. Select useful records and export your shortlist as a CSV file or prepare a printable version.
You can combine the topic and jurisdiction filters with keyword searching to narrow the records displayed.
What the tool provides
The finder displays matching reference records and lets you collect selected references into a shortlist. CSV export provides a portable record of your selections, while the print option allows you to keep a paper or PDF copy using your browser’s printing facilities.
Your shortlist remains within your current browser tab. The tool does not require an account or save your selections to a website server. Export your shortlist if you want to keep a copy outside the tool.
The finder retrieves reference information. It does not automatically classify individual waste items, assign treatment methods or decide which containers to use. Those decisions depend on the waste and the applicable guidance.
